Home Insurance: Filing a Claim for Your Residential Property

When your home has suffered damage or a loss, it is important to act as quickly as possible to prevent further harm to your property. Once you have secured your space as much as possible, get in touch with our team to start the claim filing process.

You need to gather all important information to be ready to submit a claim, including:

  • Your name, address and phone number
  • Your policy number and the name of your insurance company
  • A detailed description of the loss, including the location, date and time of the loss
  • A list of any and all items that were damaged
  • A list of any injuries
  • Eye witnesses and their contact information
  • Any other information you feel is relevant

Our team will take this information and contact your insurance company to file a claim for a loss. Your insurance company will in turn appoint an adjuster who will contact you in the next several days to inform you of any further requirements.

Vehicle Insurance: Steps to Take in the Event of a Collision

A vehicle accident is a harrowing experience for all those involved. Your first step should of course be to ensure the safety of yourself and your passengers. If you are uninjured, there are certain steps you can take to address the situation and prepare for an insurance claim. Please note: if doing any of the following will put yourself or someone else in danger, please wait for the authorities to arrive.

  • Check for injuries and contact 9-1-1 immediately
  • If at all possible, contact your insurance company at the site of your accident and they may be able to guide you through any necessary steps
  • Do not admit liability or apologize to another driver for causing an accident
  • Do not leave the scene of an accident
  • Only move your vehicle when a police officer requests that you do so
  • If it is safe to do so, remove any valuables or important information and documents from your vehicle
  • If you have your vehicle towed, be sure to get the tow company name and location
  • Collect the name, address, contact information, driver’s license number and insurance information from any other drivers involved in the accident
  • Collect the make, model, year and license plate number of other vehicles involved in the accident
  • Gather contact information from any witnesses

We have gone ahead and created a handy information sheet that you can print and keep in the glove compartment of your vehicle. In the event of an accident, simply use the sheet to gather information and keep it organized.
